The developer's field notebook: read-first, offline, free forever.
Devbrary is a free reading library for developers. Instead of videos, courses, or a tangled roadmap graph, it's organized simply as Role → Category → Topic, where every topic is a focused, self-contained page you can actually read in 5–8 minutes.
Each page follows the same clear structure — what it is, the core concepts, how it works in practice, real (non-toy) code examples, common pitfalls, senior-dev pro tips, a quick recap, and curated links to go deeper — so learning feels consistent and trustworthy instead of scattered across a dozen tabs.
It spans the whole stack:
Foundations — Git, the command line, how the web works, HTTP, debugging, data structures.
Frontend — HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React/Vue/Angular/Svelte, Tailwind, Sass, and more.
Backend — Node.js, Python, Go, Java, C#, PHP, plus databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis) and GraphQL.
DevOps — Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Terraform, cloud, and observability.
What makes it different:
🆓 Free forever — no accounts, no paywalls, no ads. (By design, not a trial.)
📴 Offline-first PWA — install it, read it on the train, works with no connection.
🔒 Private — your reading progress is saved on your device, never a server.
🔗 Smartly connected — "Recommended first" prerequisites and "Explore more" links guide you between related topics, so you always know what to read next.
📓 Calm, field-notebook design — warm, distraction-free, with a proper dark mode.
Who it's for: developers who'd rather read than watch — self-taught devs, bootcamp grads and CS students, and working engineers filling gaps or picking up a new stack. Anyone who wants a well-organized, no-strings reference they can open and learn from immediately.
Actively expanding — new topics and whole tech tracks are added regularly, with the roadmap visible in-app.
