Reality Check

Turn a gambling loss back into hours of your life.

About Reality Check

The problem

Betting apps and casinos sell a digital illusion. Chips, spins, "you almost won." Money stops feeling like money — it becomes a number on a screen you can lose without flinching.

What it does

Reality Check converts a loss back into things you actually feel. Enter what you lost, and it shows you that same amount as hours of your life at your real hourly wage, as weeks of groceries, as rent, as medicine.

It also includes:

  • A loss journal that makes you re-read your last entry before you're allowed to write a new one
  • A breakdown of the near-miss and random-payout psychology these apps are built on
  • A barriers checklist — self-exclusion, deleting apps, cutting saved payment methods, telling someone
  • Real helplines and self-exclusion programs for your country
  • A daily check-in that counts clean days

What makes it different

  • No account required. Your data stays in your browser. Sign-in is optional and only exists if you want the same journal on a second device. Asking someone to register an account before they'll admit they have a gambling problem is how you lose them.
  • Not country-locked. Pick your country and the help section switches to the real helplines, self-exclusion programs, and meetings for where you are — Philippines, US, UK, Australia, Singapore, or a general international set.
  • Installs from the browser. It's a PWA, so it goes on your home screen and works offline. No store listing, no install friction.
  • Free, with nothing paywalled — including cross-device sync.
  • Source is public under a noncommercial license, so anyone can fork it, point it at their own country's helplines, and run a free instance.

Available in English, Filipino, Cebuano, Hiligaynon, and Ilocano.
