Templato

Start with structure, not with confusion

About Templato

I built this for beginners who don’t know how to structure a project yet.

You know that moment when you want to build something, open your editor, and freeze? Where do the files go? Why does every tutorial look different?

This app gives you a clear structure so you can start building instead of guessing. If you get lost, the markdown files explain how everything works in plain language.

No more blank-folder panic. Just start.

HOW TO USE?

1. Open the site

2. Sign in

  • Sign in first if you want to:
  • open a template fully
  • upvote
  • add your own template
  • Browsing the cards is free. Using the full template page needs an account.

3. If you want to USE a template (beginner path)

  • Browse templates on the home page.
  • Click one that looks useful.
  • You’ll see:
  • Terminal steps → clone, install, run
  • Project structure → where the files live
  • Markdown files → README / docs, so you can actually read how it works
  • View on GitHub → the real repo
  • Copy the commands from the terminal guide.
  • Run them on your computer.
  • Start building.
  • If you like it, hit upvote.
  • Check the leaderboard if you want the most useful ones (upvotes / GitHub stars).

That’s it. No blank folder. No “where does this file go?”

4. If you want to SHARE your GitHub repo (creator path)

  • First, your project should already be on GitHub.

Then:

  • Go to Your Templates.
  • Click Add template.

Step 1 — Template card

  • pick an icon
  • add a title
  • write a short description
  • paste your GitHub URL
  • Example: https://github.com/yourname/your-repo

Step 2 — Terminal Write the steps beginners should follow, like:
  • git clone https://github.com/yourname/your-repo.git
  • cd your-repo
  • npm install
  • npm run dev

Step 3 — Visibility
  • Public → shows on the home page for everyone
  • Private → only you can see it
  • Create.

Done. You just “uploaded” your git — by linking it.

Other beginners can now open it, read the MD files, follow your terminal steps, and clone the repo.

5. Badges + certificate (if your GitHub gets stars)

If the GitHub repo linked to your template hits enough stars, you unlock a badge and a certificate (You can use this certificate in your portfolio).

Stars You get:

  • 20+ Stars = Bronze badge + cert
  • 50+ Stars = Silver badge + cert
  • 100+ Stars = Gold badge + cert
